Prosperity is the time or state when people have money and the things they need for a good life — food, a home, work, a bit of safety. We talk about the prosperity of a family, a city, or a whole country. News and new-year wishes use it a lot. In this meaning it is not a countable thing: we say “prosperity,” not “a prosperity.” Though actually people sometimes stretch it toward “good times” in a wider sense, with peace and health sitting next to wealth. Still, if a country is said to be enjoying prosperity, the speaker mainly means people are not poor and the economy is strong.
