1. 1

A prologue is a short section at the very beginning of a book, play, or movie, before the main story starts. It usually gives you background you need - maybe it explains what happened before the story, introduces the world, or hints at what's coming. Not every story has one; it's a choice a writer makes. The matching piece at the end is called an epilogue.
