Problem-solving is the work of finding a way through a difficulty — not only naming the problem, but getting to an answer or a method. Schools and job ads use it as a skill: good at problem-solving. It can be maths (“how do we work this out?”), work (“the machine stopped — what do we try?”), or ordinary life. In class it often means a set of steps: see the problem clearly, try ideas, check if they work. It is a plain compound, not a fancy word. Companies sometimes print it on every CV, even when the person only followed a script — so the word can sound bigger than the work.
