    Probity is complete honesty — not just “I did not lie today,” but a whole way of being that people can trust, especially with money, public office, or the law. You will meet it in formal writing: a person of great probity; financial probity. Nobody says it at the night market. It is a high, slightly old noun. A charming, clever person can still lack probity; the word is about being straight and trustworthy, not about being likeable.
