Populism is a kind of that claims to speak for ordinary people against a small group of the rich, the highly educated, or the people in charge. A leader using it often says “the people” are good and honest, and that experts, banks, or outsiders have taken what those people deserve. It is about who should hold power, not about how many fans you have. A singer can be popular without any populism at all. Though actually, the word is not a compliment in every mouth. Supporters may hear it as standing up for the public; critics hear it as stirring anger with simple stories.
