A Popsicle is sweet juice or flavoured ice frozen around a stick, which you hold and eat as it melts. The name is a US brand that many Americans now use for any ice on a stick, the way some people say Kleenex for a tissue. In Britain the everyday word is ice lolly, not Popsicle. Writing it with a capital P is the careful, brand-true way; you will also see popsicle in small letters because the word has slipped into ordinary American English. Though actually, the name was not from the drink called pop.
