Podiatry is the branch of medicine that looks after feet and the problems that start there. The word names the field, not the person — the person is a podiatrist. Though actually, learner lists sometimes blur the two, because the doctor is what students meet first. In some countries podiatry is its own kind of medical training; in others, foot care sits inside other hospital departments. In Britain the older name chiropody covers much of the same work.
