Plonker is a rude British word for a stupid person. You throw it at someone who has just done something foolish, not as a careful description. It sits on the informal, slightly comic side of insult — friends, a British TV comedy, a groan after a mistake — not a serious speech. Americans do not really use it. It is still offensive: not for a teacher, a stranger, or a formal page. Older British speakers know it well; in a young person’s mouth it can sound a bit dated, like a word your uncle would pick.
