A playlist is a list of songs that will be played, in order. A radio station has a playlist: the songs the DJ is allowed or asked to play that week. Though actually, most students now meet the word on a phone. A playlist is the mix you make yourself — running songs, study songs, a party mix. That personal-mix meaning is the one you will hear every day; the radio meaning is the older one. It is mainly a noun. People usually say put them on a playlist rather than use playlist as a verb.
