Your pinkie is your smallest finger, the one on the outside of your hand, farthest from the thumb. Children learn it early: a “pinkie promise” means you hook little fingers to make a small but serious promise. The spelling pinky is the same word for many people, especially in American English; pinkie is common too. It is a , spoken word — you say it at the table more than you write it in a formal letter. It does not come from the colour pink.
