1. 1

The way a person, a group, or a subject likes to choose and put words together — the set of phrases they keep using. Lawyers have their phraseology; so do sports writers and government offices. It can also mean the wording of one text: the phraseology of a contract. It is a rather formal word. You would not use it about ordinary chat unless you were talking about language itself. Though actually, it is not quite “the study of phrases” in the school-subject sense, even though it ends like biology; it is more “this is how they say things”.
