Phonemically means “as far as phonemes are concerned,” or “in a phonemic way.” Two sounds may be phonemically the same — they never split two words apart — even when they are phonetically a little different, like the two kinds of English p. It is an adverb for essays and careful teaching, not for the bus stop.
