A pharmacopoeia is an official book about medicines. It does not tell a story. It lists what a named drug should contain, how strong it should be, and how it should be made and tested. If a factory’s tablets do not match the book, they are not that drug in the legal sense. Governments keep their own books and update them. The word is formal; you will meet it in hospitals, labs, and the law, not at the dinner table. British spelling keeps the extra letters (pharmacopoeia); American spelling often it to pharmacopeia. Same book-word. Though actually, writers sometimes stretch it to mean any big collection of remedies or tricks — “a pharmacopoeia of kitchen tips.” That is a metaphor. The home meaning is the official list, not a and not a shop. The ending is about making medicines, not about a building.
