If you call someone perceptive, you are praising them. They notice small things quickly, and they understand how a situation — or another person’s feelings — really is. A perceptive friend sees that you are sad even when you say you are fine. A perceptive comment is one that shows this kind of understanding. It is a warm, word, a little more formal than everyday chat but still used in speech. Though actually, it is not the same as , which only means “able to be noticed.” A sound can be ; a person (or a remark) is perceptive.
