Pentagonal means shaped like a pentagon, or having five sides and five angles. You use it of a real object: a pentagonal table, a pentagonal courtyard, a pentagonal coin. It is the adjective that belongs with pentagon. In ordinary speech you would not usually call the shape itself 'a pentagonal' — you would call it a pentagon.
