Partway means for some of the distance, or after some of the time has gone, but not all of it. You can be partway to the station, or partway through a film. It does not say how much — a little or a lot — only that it is not the whole way. Halfway is stricter: it means around the middle. Partway is comfortable spoken English; you can also say part of the way. It works for space and for time.
