In the UK, a P45 is the tax form your employer must give you when you leave a job. It sets out what you earned and what tax you already paid in that job, and you pass it to your next employer so they tax you the right amount. That is the tidy official meaning. Though actually, in everyday British talk, “get your P45” often just means “you’re being sacked” — people say it even when they are not thinking about the piece of paper. There is no P45 in Taiwan; our leaving-job papers are different. The name is only a form number from the British tax office, not a code with a hidden meaning.
