Ovulation is the moment in a female body when a ripe egg leaves the ovary and starts its short trip. In a woman, this usually happens about once each month, often around the middle of the cycle — though actually the day is not the same for everyone, and some months it does not happen at all. People talk about ovulation when they are talking about periods, pregnancy, or animal breeding; it is a biology and doctor word, not a kitchen word.

Female animals too, but not on a human — some only a few times a year.
Female animals雌性動物 ovulate too也會排卵, but不過 not on a human timetable不是照人類的時間表 — some有些動物 only a few times a year一年只有幾次.
組成ovulate (the verb: when the egg is released) + -ion (turns the verb into the name of that event). ovulate itself is built on ovule, a little egg, from Latin ovum “egg”.
