An overdose is taking too much of a drug or medicine at once — much more than the safe amount — which can seriously harm or even kill someone. It's most often talked about with dangerous or illegal drugs, but you can technically overdose on normal medicine too, if you take way more than the label says. As a verb, "to overdose" means to take that dangerous, too-large amount.
