Overawed is how most people meet this idea: someone has been made to feel that mix of respect and fear, and it has taken the words or the fight out of them. “She was overawed by the palace.” “Don’t be overawed — they are just people.” It is the past of overawe, but it very often works like a describing word for a state you are in. The person feels small, careful, a little stunned — not merely pleased, and not merely terrified. You will see it in stories and in talk about first days, big stages, and meeting someone famous. Though actually, some speakers use it a little loosely to mean “very impressed”; the tidier sense still keeps that nervous hush.
