Outsourcing is the name of the practice: using outside workers or another company to do a job your own people used to do, or could have done. You will see it in newspapers, in business class, and in arguments about factories and call centres. The verb is ; outsourcing is the thing itself — the policy, the industry. Same idea, different job in the sentence. Some people cheer it as cheaper and more flexible. Others hear it as a polite word for sending work away.
