An open-hearted person meets you with warmth. They are kind, they take your side easily, they do not keep a cold wall up. You might hear of an open-hearted welcome, an open-hearted laugh, an open-hearted letter. The heart here is the feeling-place, not the organ in a science class. It is about how you treat people, not about agreeing with every new idea — that other word is open-minded. You can be open-hearted and still have firm views; you just do not freeze people out. It is a kind word, a little soft and old-fashioned, more at home in a story or a thank-you speech than in a business email.
