    Omani is not the name of the country. The country is — a sultanate in the Middle East, south-east of Saudi Arabia, capital , mostly Muslim, long known for oil. Omani is the word for a person from that country, and the word you put in front of things that belong to it: Omani food, Omani culture, an Omani passport. English often adds -i this way for people from Middle Eastern and South Asian places (Iraqi, Pakistani). One person is an Omani; more than one are Omanis.
