    Oligarchic describes a country, company, or system that is run by a small group, or that belongs to that kind of power. It is the describing word that sits beside oligarch (the person) and oligarchy (the setup). News and school writing use it for : oligarchic rule, an oligarchic government. It can also stretch to any place where a few people quietly hold the real power — a club, a board, an industry. Though actually it does not name a person. If a short note calls it “a member of a small group,” that is mixing it up with oligarch. This word tells you what kind of system it is.
