Off-centre means something is not sitting right in the middle. A photo on a wall, a logo on a shirt, a hole in a piece of wood — if it is a little to one side, it is off-centre. Designers and teachers use it a lot when they look at a page or a poster. People also stretch it, more loosely, for a person or idea that is a bit unusual, not the standard type. The spelling with -re is British; American English off-center.
