    Obligingly tells you how someone does a thing: they do it in a willing, eager-to-help way. “She obligingly held the door” means she held it because she was glad to help, not because she had to. It has the same polite, slightly old-fashioned feel as obliging. You put it next to a verb. It is a compliment in adverb form — the kind of word a story might use for a kind stranger.
