A nucleotide is one of the small building-block units that link together in a long chain to form DNA and RNA, the molecules that carry genetic information in every living cell. Each nucleotide is made of three parts: a sugar, a phosphate group, and a base. This is a science-class word - you'll meet it in biology or chemistry, not everyday talk.
