If something is newsworthy, it is important or interesting enough to be reported in a newspaper, on the radio, or on television. A typhoon is newsworthy. What you ate for lunch usually is not. Though actually, newsworthy is a judgment, not a hard fact: one editor may think a story is newsworthy and another may pass it by, and people argue about this a lot now that anyone can post news. The word is a little formal. In everyday talk, people often just say that's news or that should be on TV. It does not mean true, and it does not mean important only to you.
