Neurological is the adjective for — the scientific study of the nervous system and its diseases — and for the nervous system itself. A neurological disease or neurological disorder is an illness of the brain, spinal cord, or nerves. A neurological exam is the set of tests a doctor uses to check those parts: lights in the eyes, taps on the knees, questions about feeling and balance. It is a hospital and textbook word. People sometimes use it as a loose stand-in for 'in the brain,' which is close but tidier than the truth: the nervous system is bigger than the brain alone. The sense you were given names the field; this word names things that belong to that field, or to those body parts.
