Neuroinformatics is a science that joins two fields: neuroscience (the study of the brain and nerves) and informatics (collecting, storing, and arranging information, especially with powerful computers). People in this field build shared stores of brain data, tools to keep that data tidy, and ways to find patterns no one could see by hand. It is a university-and-lab word, quite young, and you will meet it in science writing, not at the dinner table. It is not the same as a doctor treating a patient. It is about data, models, and computers helping us understand the nervous system.
