The NCAA is the American group that the rules for sport between colleges and universities in the United States. University teams in basketball, American football, baseball, and many other sports play under NCAA rules, and when Americans talk about “college basketball” or the huge spring tournament nicknamed March Madness, they almost always mean NCAA games — not the professional NBA. It is not the government, and it does not run high-school sport or the paid big leagues; universities join it and agree to follow it. People say the letters N-C-A-A, though actually many Americans say “N-C-double-A.” You will meet it on TV, in sports news, and in talk about US scholarships.
組成Acronym: National (of the whole country) + Collegiate (of colleges and universities) + Athletic (of sport) + Association (an organised group).
