At root, picture a community of people gathered for one shared purpose of learning — a body of colleagues, teachers and students together under one name. Sometimes that body is the place you study after high school, sometimes a specialized school, sometimes one self-contained house inside a bigger university. The same idea — an organized body bound by a common pursuit — also reaches outside education to professional bodies.
