Navigability is the name for whether ships can travel on a river, a lake, or a canal — and how easily they can. If a river has good navigability, it is deep enough and wide enough for boats to go along it. People talk about poor navigability when the water is too shallow, too narrow, full of rocks, or blocked. You will meet this word in geography, news about ports, and building-and-water talk; it is not a kitchen-table word. Though actually the word you often see first is navigable (a navigable river). Navigability is just that idea turned into a thing you can name: the river's navigability improved after they dug it deeper. It does not mean 'the skill of finding your way' — that is closer to navigation. And it does not by itself mean the water is safe or allowed; it means ships can physically get through.
