Nationally means across the whole country, not just in one town, one school, or one region. A programme that is shown nationally can be seen from one end of the country to the other. Someone who is nationally famous is famous at home everywhere, though people abroad may never have heard of them — that next step would be internationally. Sports tables, exams, news, and advertising use the word a lot: ranked nationally, nationally , a nationally representative sample. It is about the size of the map, not about pride. A nationally known singer is not, by that phrase, a one. You can love your country, or not; nationally still only means “in the whole nation.”
