A narcissist is a person who thinks about themselves far too much — their face, their talent, their success — and who does not really notice other people. We use the word to show we do not like this.
A narcissist自戀者 is是 a person who thinks about themselves far too much一個太過度想著自己的人 — their face他們的臉, their talent他們的才華, their success他們的成就 — and而且 who does not really notice other people真的不太會注意到別人。We我們 use the word用這個詞 to show是要表示 we do not like this我們不喜歡這樣。
A vain person just likes to look good. A narcissist needs to be the centre, and other people's feelings bounce off them.
A vain person愛慕虛榮的人 just likes to look good只是喜歡看起來好看。A narcissist自戀者 needs to be the centre需要當中心, and而 other people's feelings別人的感受 bounce off them碰到他就彈開(他不會放在心上)。
In everyday talk, people now throw the word at anyone who takes many photos of themselves or who cannot stop boasting; though actually, in careful speech it is heavier than "vain" or "selfish," and doctors mean something more stuck and serious than "likes the mirror." The name comes from , a beautiful young man in an old Greek story who fell in love with his own face in the water and could not leave it.
In everyday talk在日常對話裡, people人們現在會 throw the word at anyone把這個詞丟給任何人 who takes many photos of themselves只要那個人自拍很多照片 or或 who cannot stop boasting一直炫耀停不下來; though actually不過其實, in careful speech在講究一點的用法裡 it is heavier than這個詞比 "vain" or "selfish,"「vain(虛榮)」或「selfish(自私)」更重, and而且 doctors mean醫生所指的 something more stuck and serious than "likes the mirror."是比「喜歡照鏡子」更頑固、更嚴重的東西。The name這個名字 comes from源自 Narcissus納西瑟斯, a beautiful young man in an old Greek story古希臘故事裡一個美少年 who fell in love with his own face in the water他愛上了自己映在水裡的臉 and而 could not leave it離不開。
組成Narcissus (the young man in the Greek story who loved his own reflection) + -ist (a person who is like that).
