Name-dropping is the habit — or the one act — of mentioning famous people you have met, or some thin link to them, in order to look impressive. People use it (“I’m doing a bit of name-dropping”) or to show they dislike it (“enough name-dropping”). It is the -ing noun from name-drop. Informal, and a little sharp.
name-dropping 指刻意提到你認識的名人，或只有一點點關係的名人，好讓自己看起來更有面子。它可以指這種習慣，也可以指做這件事的那一次。它是從動詞 name-drop 來的名詞，所以用法很直接。
有人會自嘲地說「I'm doing a bit of name-dropping」，也有人會表示不以為然，說「enough name-dropping」。語氣偏口語，而且帶一點諷刺。
