A name-dropper is the person who keeps mentioning famous people they have met — or claim some link to — so they look impressive. The word is almost never a compliment. You say it with a laugh or a sigh: this person cannot tell a story without a star’s name in it. The behaviour is the same as name-dropping; this word points at the person, not the habit.
