Mycenaean means “of ,” but it almost always points past the one city to a whole world: the people, the language, and the Late Bronze Age culture of southern Greece before about 1100 BC. We talk about Mycenaean palaces, Mycenaean pottery, Mycenaean Greek (written in Linear B). Agamemnon belongs to the stories later Greeks told about that world. Though actually, Mycenaean is not another name for the ruins of itself — that place is ; this word is for belonging to it, or for that age.
