A Muslim is a person whose religion is Islam. The word is also an adjective: a Muslim festival, Muslim neighbours.

A Muslim is穆斯林就是 whose religion is Islam信伊斯蘭教的 a person人。 The word這個字 is also也是 an adjective形容詞: a Muslim festival穆斯林的節日、 Muslim neighbours穆斯林鄰居。

English borrowed it around 1615 from Arabic muslim, “one who submits.” That verb sits on an old root about being whole and at peace; the related Arabic word Islam is literally “submission,” and in religion it is the faith.

Use Muslim for the person. Islamic often fits things around the faith (Islamic art, Islamic law). Though actually, people also say the Muslim world; both patterns are real.

Always write a capital M. Older English used Moslem; teachers now prefer Muslim, closer to the Arabic. Mohammedan is an old outsider’s label; Muslims do not use it for themselves, so you should not either.
