Musicianship is skill in making music well — not only hitting the right notes, but timing, listening, tone, and feel. A teacher who says her musicianship is strong means the student plays with understanding, as a musician, not like a machine that only copies the page. You meet the word in lessons, exams, and reviews. It is respectful and a little formal. It does not mean 'being a professional' and it is not the same as music theory on its own; a person can know a lot of facts and still have weak musicianship if the playing has no life. It is musician plus -ship, the same ending as in friendship or leadership: the quality of being that thing.
