Musculature means all the muscles of the body, or of one area, thought of as one group or system. A coach might talk about developing the musculature of the legs; a doctor might describe the musculature of the back. It is a formal, technical word, at home in medicine, science, and serious training talk. Everyday English just says muscles. We normally say the musculature of something, not a musculature on its own as if it were a spare part. English borrowed it from French musculature.
