Used of a place, a group, or a way of living that includes people or ideas from many different countries, , or religions. A multicultural city has many kinds of food, languages, and festivals. Schools and governments often like the word; it usually sounds positive, as if mixing cultures is a good thing. Though actually in some countries it has become a fighting word in , where people argue about whether a country should keep one shared culture or many. It can describe a neighbourhood, a school, a company, or a whole country. It is not the same as multinational — that one is about companies in many countries — and not quite the same as multi-faith, which is only about religions.
