Picture someone typing with one thumb while walking. are the first thing to go, so message loses its and becomes msg. Nothing about the meaning changed — only the number of letters. That is why this form lives where speed matters, and why it turns back into the full word the moment the writing has to look careful.
可以想成一個人一邊走路一邊用一根拇指打字。第一個被丟掉的是母音，所以 message 少掉中間那些字母，變成 msg。意思一點都沒有變，變的只有字母數量。這就是為什麼這個寫法活在「求快」的地方——手機、聊天室、便條；也是為什麼一旦要寫得體面一點，它馬上就變回完整的 message。
