'Mono' has a few separate everyday uses. In music, 'mono' (short for monophonic) means sound comes from one channel, not spread across two speakers like 'stereo' - so an old mono recording sounds the same no matter where you stand. In American English, 'mono' is also the everyday short word for a common illness, mononucleosis (sometimes called the 'kissing disease'), that makes you extremely tired for weeks. As a prefix piece, 'mono-' also shows up in lots of words meaning 'one/single', like monorail or monopoly.
(音響)單聲道;(美式口語)腺熱/單核球增多症
