    To mistime something is to do it at not quite the right moment — a bit early, a bit late, or in a gap where it lands badly. A tennis player mistimes a shot and hits the ball off-centre. A joke mistimed after bad news falls flat. You can mistime an arrival, a , a product launch. It is not the same as being slow in general; the clock or the moment was wrong for that one act.
