Minger is a rude British slang word for a person someone thinks is ugly. Young men have often used it about women they do not find sexually attractive, which is unkind and one-sided. It is built from minging (“ugly” or “awful”) plus -er, so a minger is “an ugly person” in that harsh teenage voice. You may hear it in British TV, school corridors, or among young men showing off. It is informal, insulting, and not a word to say to someone’s face — or really at all if you want to be decent. It does not belong in careful writing, and it is not ordinary American English. Though actually, some people now throw it at anyone, not only women; it is still a put-down, not a joke that lands softly.
