Militaristic describes a country, government, culture, or policy that has the character of militarism: it builds up the armed forces and treats force as the way to stay safe and to get its way. You use it of the flavour of a place, not usually of one private person (that person is a militarist). A militaristic parade, a militaristic education, a militaristic regime — uniforms, ranks, obedience, and the idea that the army is the nation’s pride. It can be fair description or a critic’s word, depending on who is talking. It does not mean ‘about the army’ in a neutral textbook sense (military history, military hospital). It means ‘in the spirit of militarism’.
