A beauty treatment, usually for the face. A machine blows a fine powder, or uses a rough diamond-like tip, over the skin so the dead top layer is rubbed off. The skin can look smoother and a little brighter afterwards. Clinics and spas sell it; it sounds medical and a bit expensive. It is not cutting and not strong surgery — the micro- is there to say this is the light version. The older word , without micro-, is a heavier treatment a doctor might use for deep scars, and that one needs real medical care. Though actually, the glow does not last for ever, and it will not rebuild a deep scar; that talk as if it were magic are selling, not teaching. You will hear the word in a clinic, not at the dinner table unless you are talking about a treatment you had.
