An MEP is someone voters have chosen as a member of the European Parliament — the law-making body of the European Union. MEPs sit in that parliament and help make rules that cover EU countries. Write it in capital letters and say each letter: M-E-P. It is a news and word. It is not the same as an MP, who belongs to one country’s own parliament (for example in London). In other jobs the same letters can mean other things, but this entry is the Europe one.
