Medicaid is a United States government system that helps pay for medical treatment for people who do not have much money. It is not a hospital and it is not a private plan you buy. The national government and the states share the cost, and each state runs a lot of the details, so the rules are not exactly the same everywhere. People on Medicaid may get help with doctors, hospitals, and long-term care, depending on the state and on their situation. The name is a blend of medical and aid — help with medical bills. Though actually, many learners (and many Americans) mix it up with Medicare: Medicaid is mainly for people with low income, including some families and people with disabilities; Medicare is mainly for older people. A person can even have both, but they are not the same programme.
